So, several things happened all at once, and long story short, I ended up back in the Philippines. Being away from my family was not making me or them happy. So, I hopped a couple of planes and headed back.
My poor wife had been handling everything herself and it just was not sustainable. So, I shuttered the eBay store temporarily and told my boss I would be working from the Philippines. She was awesome and it made me very happy knowing I picked such a great place to work for.
The trip was uneventful, which is always good. There were a couple of long layovers. I met an interesting Chinese guy who sat in the middle seat between LA and Seoul, and we talked most of the way there. I also met another guy in the lounge of the Manila airport. I had an 8-hour layover, so I spent a bit of money and sat in a cool airport lounge, sipping tiny bottles of coke, eating sweet and sour beef, and watching flights depart on the digital board.
I had a nice soft chair, and although the AC seemed to not be working, with the fans it was cool enough to get some rest.
Phoenix to LAX. LAX to Incheon. Incheon to Manila. Manila to Iloilo City.
Now I am back, and it is the rainy season. I cannot get used to the humidity after the dryness of the Tucson desert. As dry as it was in the Sonoran Desert, the tropical air and constant rain are oppressive.
I LOVE being back with my family, but I loved being back in Tucson, so I promised my parents I would be back with my wife and two littles as soon as we could manage. The plan is to finalize the kids’ US citizenship and get Flora a Visa.
We are going to get a house in Tucson and Flora will run the eBay business while I work full-time. Between the two of us, we will make enough to afford to rent a nice house and afford all the things that make life in America worth living.
But for now, we are paying our debts, which still include some leftovers from my heart attack, we are saving money, and planning on packing up the 4 of us and making that long trip to the USA.
The trip will be hard for Joey because he is autistic, but I think we can manage to book that Philippine Airlines flight from Manila to LAX and avoid having to fly through Japan and putting extra stress on the poor boy.
So I work, save, and plan for the day when my whole family is in the USA, something my wife has been waiting for her whole life.
I hope it lives up to her expectations.
